Things To Be Thankful For

Here is your Tuesday STORY on: SELF DEVELOPMENT: Why do people ask advice? A good answer would be because they are unsure of the answer themselves. Why do people ask advice and then seemingly ignore it? Your answer on this occasion may have been exactly what they needed to hear, but for some reason they do not act upon it. This could lead to your own frustration and a promise that you will not offer advice to that person again. Whilst most people would recognise that as a fair and reasonable response, others would realise that the questioner is crying out for help, but on this occasion you are not the person with the right AUTHORITY to give the answer. I personally studied 'Law' as part of a public administration course, which can help in resolving some questions, but, and I would be the first to admit it, I am often not the person with authority in this subject. If I suggested a possible solution to a legal problem, few would accept my observations; yet however their value would mirror that of a proper legal representative. It is human nature that we get answers from the correct source. In my youth I was able to strip a car engine down and repair and restore to its original condition. Yet if I suggested to a colleague that their engine needed a de-coke, they would politely accept my comments but approach a mechanic for a proper answer. The suggestion here then is that; when you are all exhausted from trying to offer advice but getting nowhere, direct the individual concerned to the person with authority. THE RIGHT AUTHORITY In my philosophical youth, I was trying to impress my 'in-laws' (my wife's parents), more specifically my mother-in-law. She was searching, as they do, for my position/political stance on a certain topic. Incidentally she is the deputy head of a local school for 12 - 16 year olds. I sat back and said I couldn't answer without all the facts. Nothing too strange there, but I sensed a need to speak out with some 'personal philosophy'. Perhaps a little too early in the day to be received with anticipation, my 'mother-in-law' sat back with a certain degree of apprehension. I suggested that people are better making important decisions in a good/happy state of mind. If a decision is demanded at a moment you are stressed out, then you need to take a moment to clam down. Even to the point of meditating for five minutes. My mother-in-law was sceptical. Precisely two weeks later (Sunday morning), my mother-in-law was reading her favourite Sunday morning newspaper. Guess what! A journalist had researched an article on meditation and how to calm our busy minds down. There was the 'authority', the same comment from 'my' humble lips meant nothing, now that the same instruction was in print, my mother-in-law was prepared to consider its values!!! 1.for example.i'm sitting here thinking how nice it is that wrinkles don't hurt. 2.the easiest way to find something lost around the house is to buy a replacement. 3.when i'm feeling down,i like to whistle.it makes the neighbors dog that barks,run to the end of his chain and gag himself. 4.how long a minute is depends on what side of the bathroom door you're on. 5.if walmart is lowering prices every day,how come nothing is free yet. 6.once over the hill,you pick up speed. 7.if not for stress,some days i'd have no energy at all. 8.if the shoe fits,buy it in every color. 9.if you can't be kind,at least be vague. 10.and finally,he who hesitates is probably right! star if you agree!

Any suggestions of what to do?
I am almost 30 and have been suffering from Dysthymia since I was 14. At times this escalates to a major depressive state. Each day, month, year is a battle to keep it all under control. Nearing 30 means there is a certain need for stability but this has not presented itself even though I have sought it. There is a constant feeling of unrest in my stomach, my throat is chocked up and my chest is tight with anxiety just thinking about my future alone and continuing the never ending battle with myself. I constantly wish for the end to take it all away but then feel guilty because I have so much more than many other people (all my limbs are intact- but they ache, I still have my mother - although I have no friends, and i do not go hungry - but do live below the poverty line). I feel guilty for complaining and always feeling sad when there asre so many things to be thankful for. It's close to the time of year where it all becomes too much, having been through this so many times before I now know that the best way to avoid anything major (have been institutionalized on previous occasions) is to do something out of the ordinary. At the moment my mind is to foggy and the anxiety too great to concentrate on making my plan of attack this year. So, I ask for your help on some suggestions for what I may be able to do over the next 3 months. There are no limits to the suggestions made. Thank you for your help with ideas.

....? (mental health) and need some advice.?
Alright. Here is a bet about me. My parents passed away, I live on my own, my family treats me like garbage, and my siblings don't talk to me (Im the oldest) and I have no one to talk to other then my Best best friend in the world (Who I love Dearly) & Im currently going through depression. I know I have lots of things to be thankful for and I know Im not incontrol of my imchemical balance in my brain I tried everything to help myself. I know I have low self esteem/Self Confidents and I try to think postive (It's not always easy) and I honestly trying hard not to think about my past and be hard on myself. I started going to see a professional to help me and someone just to talk to (since) I don't have no other contact other then my friend (whom I love) and I want to get better so badly and get things going for myself and it's all getting overwhelming. What can I do to help me through my healing process between doctors and thripy appointments?ect. Im doing my best to take control of my situation, and I attend to analyze myself, things around ect. I try not to and urge.. It's just Im trying to think postive but it's hard sometimes. Is it selffish to see a professional? Someone to talk to and has the skills (that I don't have) to help myself? Also any help, maybe kind words and friendly advice well help. Thanks in advance.
