Here is your Friday STORY on: HAPPINESS: Happiness is having what you really want, or is it? Or is it allowing OTHERS to have what they really want? To WANT happiness yourself is fine, but it is how you achieve it or plan it that really counts. It is not the destination that is important but the journey. If you were to plan to travel to your promised land to find happiness, you are instantly limiting yourself to no further happiness until you arrive. It is as EQUALLY important to allow happiness to arise upon the journey. Notice the word ALLOW and how integral that word is to those first few paragraphs. Don't restrict or confine; allow! Today's story is an amusing look, but nonetheless loaded with ALLOWING, which brings happiness. Please enjoy... WHAT WOMEN REALLY WANT Young King Arthur was ambushed and imprisoned by the monarch of a neighbouring kingdom. The monarch could have killed him, but was moved by Arthur's youth and ideals. So the monarch offered him freedom, as long as he could answer a very difficult question. Arthur would have a year to figure out the answer; if, after a year, he still had no answer, he would be put to death. The question: What do women really want? Such a question would perplex even the most knowledgeable man, and, to young Arthur, it seemed an impossible query. But, since it was better than death, he accepted the monarch's proposition to have an answer by year's end. He returned to his kingdom and began to poll everybody: the princess, the prostitutes, the priests, the wise men and the court jester. He spoke with everyone, but no one could give him a satisfactory answer. Many people advised him to consult the old witch--only she would know the answer. The price would be high; the witch was famous throughout the kingdom for the exorbitant prices she charged. The last day of the year arrived and Arthur had no alternative but to talk to the witch. She agreed to answer his question, but he'd have to accept her price first: The old witch wanted to marry Gawain, the most noble of the Knights of the Round Table and Arthur's closest friend! Young Arthur was horrified: She was hunchbacked and hideous, had only one tooth, smelled like sewage, made obscene noises... etc. He had never encountered such a repugnant creature. He refused to force his friend to marry her and have to endure such a burden. Gawain, upon learning of the proposal, spoke with Arthur. He told him that nothing was too big a sacrifice compared to Arthur's life and the preservation of the Round Table. Hence, their wedding was proclaimed, and the witch answered Arthur's question thus: What a woman really wants is to be in charge of her own life. Everyone instantly knew that the witch had uttered a great truth and that Arthur's life would be spared. And so it was. The neighbouring monarch granted Arthur total freedom. What a wedding Gawain and the witch had! Arthur was torn between relief and anguish. Gawain was proper as always, gentle and courteous. The old witch put her worst manners on display, and generally made everyone very uncomfortable. The honeymoon hour approached. Gawain, steeling himself for a horrific experience, entered the bedroom. But what a sight awaited him! The most beautiful woman he'd ever seen lay before him! The astounded Gawain asked what had happened. The beauty replied that since he had been so kind to her when she'd appeared as a witch, she would henceforth be her horrible, deformed self half the time, and the other half, she would be her beautiful maiden self. Which would he want her to be during the day, and which during the night? What a cruel question! Gawain pondered his predicament. During the day she would be a beautiful woman to show off to his friends, but at night, in the privacy of his home, an old witch? Or would he prefer having by day a hideous witch, but by night a beautiful woman with whom to enjoy many intimate moments? What would you do? What Gawain chose follows below, but don't read until you've made your own choice. * * * * * * * * Noble Gawain replied . . . . . that he would let her choose for herself. Upon hearing this, she announced that she would be beautiful all the time, because he had respected her enough to let her be in charge of her own life. Is there a moral here? . . . . . . . . . Certainly: Treat your woman (guys) with total respect (and love) and like the queen she is or should be, and watch how beautiful she will be. Or, (on the other hand): If your woman doesn't get her own way, . . . . things are going to get ugly! : ) (Unknown Author) QUOTE: "I believe the greater handicap, the greater the triumph.' (John H. Johnson) [[ct]]: Psychology Courses

How can I be less obsessed with becoming physically ideal? Do I have BDD?
I'm decent, and I don't HATE my body, but I wish I could spend more time focusing on my health and fitness. I look in the mirror and acknowledge qualities I like - my eyes, bone structure, among others. But, even though I have straight, generally white teeth, I want to brighten them with whitening strips, and since my front teeth are a bit longer than the "ideal," I want to trim them a bit. I'm on Accutane even though my skin isn't acne-ridden (It used to be...it's cleared up pretty much now). I hate my scarring and next August I plan to undergo noninvasive laser treatments to heal most of the scarring, particularly on my face. I admit I'm a bit obsessed with skincare, and buy $40 moisturizers because they work so well. I want to have the best skin I can have. And, I work out a lot and am trying to gain mass in muscle. I've spent over $100 on protein, multi-vitamins, casein, and the likes. I'm not stupid, and I know phsyical appearance isn't everything, but I just can't see myself as reaching my potential until I meet MY ideal physical perfection..note I said MY, not society's. I'm in an honors abnormal psychology course at my university right now, and we discussed Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD). Does it sound like I may have symptoms of the condition? My obsession with physical perfection does tend to have negative affect on my life - sometimes I turn down event invites just because I don't think I'm looking my particular best that week. I ALWAYS avoid pictures, and ALWAYS turn down beach invites because my body isn't good enough for ME. I haven't gone in the water in two years and haven't taken my shirt off in front of anyone for the same amount of time. I just always look at these incredibly fit people and models and think of how much less attractive I am than them, even if I have other things going for me. School does tend to interfere with me being more dedicated to fitness, because I try hard academically. Do you think I have BDD? What are some steps I can take to become a more physically-confident person? btw I'm a 20 year old male, if that helps...so it may seem a little bit weird now hahaha

Does anyone know the science of bisexuality?
Now I've learned in an advanced psychology course I take that sexuality is a combination of biological and environmental factors. In other words, it you are born with it AND/OR it is choice. the class and MANY scientists focus on homosexuality vs heterosexuality. So why doesn't science focus on bisexuals? We account for less than 1% of the entire world population, but why don't we matter. Not to say "i want to know what's wrong with me", but more "why don't I lean more towards a side?". Quite genuinely, I do not lean to a side. I know I could have a physical or emotional relationship with men and women. To be a little more frank, it is more physically stimulating with men because of the "dangerousness" feeling I get. Although, when it comes to relationships and who I want to be with, women are just the main focus of my attention. I lean VERY SLIGHTLY; do not take this out of context. (I am a virgin nerd. lol) So my question here is: Why does science not attempt to study the patterns of bisexuals? Tid bits of information biological - : science says that the brain of homosexual males are exactly the same as women, bisexual males and heterosexual males are the same, but gay males and straight males have different brain masses. (gay brains are smaller - as are women's) Environmental: bisexuals are frequently sexually stimulated many times throughout the day, we look at someone and say "wow, you're hot" to mostly every hot person they see, historically we are not the smartest beings (but I am determined to prove that bisexuals are sexually-actualized) Interesting, no?

Psychology survey... HELP!!?
I am 16, in Grade 11, and taking a grade 12 psychology course. For our big research project that is to be handed in in June, just before the final exam. My research project is on Single Parent homes and my thesis is as follows: Teenagers between the ages of 14 and 18 are more susceptible to stress and anxiety. I need to send out a survey to 20 boys at my school, 20 girls and 10 people outside of school. I want to ask questions to help prove my thesis, but I want to avoid very personal questions such as "Are your parents divorced?", "Do you live with your mom or your dad?" etc... I'd prefer Yes/No questions, or ones with multiple choices but yeah... I REALLY need help thinking of questions for this thing. I need about 10-15 questions. So, even if you have only one good suggestion, that would be greatly appreciated. For those who can help: THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!! :D
