Editor’s note: This is a guest post from Chris Guillebeau of ChrisGuillebeau.com. Imagine a life where all your time is spent on the things you want to do. Imagine giving your greatest attention to a project you create yourself, instead of working as a cog in a machine that exists to make other people rich. [...]

‘He who is contented is rich.’ ~Lao Tzu Post written by Leo Babauta. There has been little in my life that has made as much an impact as learning to be content — with my life, where I am, what I’m doing, what I have, who I’m with, who I am. This little trick changes [...]

What I?ve Learned About Learning

How to Fail at Habits
by Leo
24 Apr 2012 at 11:28am
Post written by Leo Babauta. Before I learned how to change habits, I was stuck. I kept trying to change various habits — running, eating healthier, waking earlier, getting out of debt, ending procrastination — and I kept failing. I got very good at failing, in fact. Looking back on those days, given the power [...]

Problems

Here is your Thursday STORY on: ADAPTING TO CHANGE: Is change an important part of your life? It is integral! It is like the wind in nature; let me explain: GREAT BARRIER REEF Most people would be aware of the Great Barrier Reef, stretching some 1, 800 miles from New Guinea to Australia. Tour guides regularly take visitors to view the reef. On one tour, the guide was asked an interesting question. "I notice that the lagoon side of the reef looks pale and lifeless, while the ocean side is vibrant and colourful, " a traveller observed. "Why is this?" The guide gave an interesting answer: "The coral around the lagoon side is in still water, with no challenge for its survival. It dies early. The coral on the ocean side is constantly being tested by wind, waves, storms - surges of power. It has to fight for survival every day of its life. As it is challenged and tested it changes and adapts. It grows healthy. It grows strong. And it reproduces." Then he added this telling note: "That's the way it is with every living organism." (Unknown Author). That's how it is with people. Challenged and tested, we come alive! Like coral pounded by the sea, we grow. Physical demands can cause us to grow stronger. Mental and emotional stress can produce tough-mindedness and resiliency. Spiritual testing can produce strength of character and faithfulness. If you want to feel the wind through your hair a little more often, then be ready for the changes in life. These changes are more certain than even the very things we expect to happen. "Be good at dealing with Problems and with change. Little is more certain to happen, both today and tomorrow!" QUOTE: "Within you right now is the power to do things you never dreamed possible. This power becomes available to you just as soon as you can change your beliefs." (Dr. Maxwell Maltz, 1899 - 1975, Author). [[ct]]: Problems

Fallout 3 GOTY crashing on start up?
I installed Fallout 3 GOTY edition about a month ago, and although I've always had this problem, recently its gotten a lot worse. When I load the game, it gets to the "Please Stand By" screen, then cuts out. I get an error message from windows, just saying that the game has stopped working. It doesn't offer any other info about why. I've been searching the forums for a few days now. Before, after a few rebootings of my laptop it would eventually start working, but now it won't. I've tried installing the 1.7 windows patch, a Kodec patch, adding the d3d9 patch, changing the .ini file, and using ccleaner to get rid of anything that may be interfering with it. I've even uninstalled and reinstalled without the add ons, and it still wont work. As a relative novice, I can't think of anything else to do! any other help would be appreciated.

Hiding a big nose with sensitive skin?
My nose looks clumsily shaped and it's pretty big. I want to minimize it, but the problem is i have a double whammy as not only is it a big nose, but the skin on and around it is sore, red, sensitive and has obvious pores. This means I can't wear much make up on this area as it makes my skin flare up! So how do i disguise this nose of mine? Is make up really the only way?
