Editor’s note: This is a guest post from Chris Guillebeau of ChrisGuillebeau.com. Imagine a life where all your time is spent on the things you want to do. Imagine giving your greatest attention to a project you create yourself, instead of working as a cog in a machine that exists to make other people rich. [...]

‘He who is contented is rich.’ ~Lao Tzu Post written by Leo Babauta. There has been little in my life that has made as much an impact as learning to be content — with my life, where I am, what I’m doing, what I have, who I’m with, who I am. This little trick changes [...]

Editor’s note: This is a guest post from Matt Madeiro of Make Every Day Count. Let?s see if this rings any bells. When the clock hits 8, I sit. I plop back in my rolling chair, crack open the laptop on my desk, and spend the next nine hours with my butt glued firmly to [...]

‘Distraction is the only thing that consoles us for miseries and yet it is itself the greatest of our miseries.’ ~Blaise Pascal Post written by Leo Babauta. ‘Begin at once to live, and count each separate day as a separate life.’ ~Seneca Post written by Leo Babauta. I’m not a rich man, nor do I fly around the world and drink champagne with famous people in exotic locales, nor do I own a sports car or SUV or a yacht. And yet, [...]

How to Fail at Habits
by Leo
24 Apr 2012 at 11:28am
Post written by Leo Babauta. Before I learned how to change habits, I was stuck. I kept trying to change various habits — running, eating healthier, waking earlier, getting out of debt, ending procrastination — and I kept failing. I got very good at failing, in fact. Looking back on those days, given the power [...]

Overcoming Panic

Here is your Monday STORY on: LOVE: In love you always give and don't demand in return. By giving, you allow things to happen. When people love someone, they forget that real love means no demands from the beloved. When dedicating yourself to a God, the Self, the Absolute, the Saviour - call it what you will, the most important part is the heart, and that is very simple. If that is properly achieved in its simplicity, all the rest should not bother one, because nothing else is very important. One can see this from many examples that this is so, but here is one: IT WAS ASKED FROM THE HEART 'There was a great elephant who was proud of his size and strength, but when he went for a bathe he was caught by a crocodile in mid-stream and dragged out of his depth into the deep water. He was helpless and couldn't do anything. But; just when he was about to be drowned he happened to catch with his trunk a lotus flower floating on the river, and offering that flower to the Absolute, to his God, he begged Him to save his life. So pure was his offering that God came running from his throne. One might wonder how one could dislodge the Absolute, the God and cause him to come barefoot from his throne by just a little flower! But it was not the flower, it was the spirit behind the flower - it was the heart which prayed.' (Excerpt from the book 'Good Company.') QUOTE: "Don't spend your precious time asking, 'Why isn't this world a better place?' It will only be time wasted. The question to ask is, 'How can I make it better?' To that there is an answer.' (Leo F Buscaglia, Author in 'The Way of the Bull'). [[ct]]: Overcoming Panic

What is the best way to prevent or overcome panic attacks while driving on a motorway?
My sister is a reluctant driver though she has lately been driving a lot on smaller roads. This has increased her driving confidence but last week while on the motorway (with me as a passenger) she had a little panic attack. She carried on driving safely but it freaked her out so now she's reluctant again. Any good advice for her please?

How can I overcome panic of talking to people about whatever?
I mean, when I know people its usually pretty fine, but in business settings and with my boss and co workers, I sort of freeze and don't dare to say anything because I overthink and get overly concious about everything! So, I panic and can't think of any common thoughts or comments to fill in awkward moments. I feel really insecure because many times I've been rejected for saying things I thought were ok and got me into trouble.(like getting my final year thesis professor turn against me because I explained to him the same reason he gave the week before about why we were not putting much effort into our work, -which I did, I was teacher's pet until that very moment- it was hell after that, and I kid you not)
