‘He who is contented is rich.’ ~Lao Tzu Post written by Leo Babauta. There has been little in my life that has made as much an impact as learning to be content — with my life, where I am, what I’m doing, what I have, who I’m with, who I am. This little trick changes [...]

‘Begin at once to live, and count each separate day as a separate life.’ ~Seneca Post written by Leo Babauta. I’m not a rich man, nor do I fly around the world and drink champagne with famous people in exotic locales, nor do I own a sports car or SUV or a yacht. And yet, [...]

How to Fail at Habits
by Leo
24 Apr 2012 at 11:28am
Post written by Leo Babauta. Before I learned how to change habits, I was stuck. I kept trying to change various habits — running, eating healthier, waking earlier, getting out of debt, ending procrastination — and I kept failing. I got very good at failing, in fact. Looking back on those days, given the power [...]

Why We Overplan
by Leo
17 Apr 2012 at 8:40am
‘A good traveler has no fixed plans, and is not intent on arriving.’ ~Lao Tzu Post written by Leo Babauta. There is something about my mind, and many people’s minds, that is overly optimistic. We think we can do so much each day, and so we overplan. We fill our plans with so much, confident [...]

Bipolar Personality

Here is your Monday STORY on: LOVE: Do you love the beauty of your partner or the beauty of their soul? When you are sat in another room and can hear your partner talking to your children, inspiring them for a day at school; do you think of their face or find that a quiver tickles your soul in recognition of their beauty? We must never forget when a moment of love can make a big difference in someone's life. You may not be aware of the intention of a particular action, but suddenly realise that the action will transpire into a moment to cherish. Often an instant, intuitive gut reaction can be an affection of love that is deep and meaningful. Today's story is about the love of both a family and a child. Please enjoy and see the numerous intuitive reactions and how love flows through each. THE ICE CREAM PRAYER Last week I took my children to a restaurant. My six-year-old son asked if he could say grace. As we bowed our heads he said, "God is good. God is great. Thank you for the food, and I would even thank you more if Mom gets us ice cream for dessert. And Liberty and justice for all! Amen!" Along with the laughter from the other customers nearby I heard a woman remark, "That's what's wrong with this country. Kids today don't even know how to pray. Asking God for ice cream! Why, I never!" Hearing this, my son burst into tears and asked me, "Did I do it wrong? Is God mad at me?" As I held him and assured him that he had done a terrific job and God was certainly not mad at him, an elderly gentleman approached the table. He winked at my son and said, "I happen to know that God thought that was a great prayer." "Really?" my son asked. "Cross my heart." Then in a theatrical whisper he added (indicating the woman whose remark had started this whole thing), "Too bad she never asks God for ice cream. A little ice cream is good for the soul sometimes." The elderly gentleman placed a few coins on the table and said, 'Allow me the pleasure of buying your children ice cream.' I quickly considered the value of this offer as normally I would have refused his grateful offer, but it seemed more of a symbol than an offering. When the ice cream arrived at the table, my son stared at this for a moment and then did something I will remember the rest of my life. He picked up his sundae and without a word walked over and placed it in front of the woman. With a big smile he told her, "Here, this is for you. Ice cream is good for the soul sometimes, and my soul is good already." (Unknown Author) QUOTE: "Remember, that if thou marry for beauty, thou bindest thyself all thy life for that which perchance will neither last nor please thee one year; and when thou hast it, it will be to thee of no price at all; for the desire dieth when it was attained, and the affection perisheth when it is satisfied.' Confusion??? Anybodies opinion....?
Earlier in my life I was a pious Christian, but somewhere along the way everything shattered. I have talked to sooooooooooooo many Christians that accuse my disbelief is the direct result of selfish lustful desires. However, they are completely wrong. I opened and studied the bible a Christian and closed the bible an Atheist. In my effort to get closer to God, I found contradiction in what seems to be his bipolar personality. God permitted and command terrible things such as stoning of various groups of people for their particular area of sin, as well as genocide commanded from Gods own "Holy" lips. Upon questioning with certain people of why God did such terrible things, the crude remark "Who says God Can't be Harsh" makes its "Surprising" arrival into our conversation. However, I can not think of one time when I told someone I was an Atheist and they said "What! Your an Atheist! Well where does Bad things come From?" The reason being people believe only GOOD comes from God, And I can confidently say that Stoning is BAD; Genocide is BAD; Sexism is Bad, Having Infants Killed because of their Parents sin is Bad. All things God has commanded, Done, and permitted. My point is people believe God Is "good" but a God who does and permits those acts is NOT good. When I read the Bible I don't see anything Holy about it... at all. Where am I miscalculating or misunderstanding the word? Do you think it is okay God did these things? Have you read the parts of the bible that say them?

don't you find it ridiculous when people quickly change themselves completely to fit within new environments?
for example there was this freshman girl in my college last year who obviously was the obnoxious loud and ghetto type before and she was trying to leave this diplomatic and intelligent impression but there were days when she would get sick of acting and show her real self... and even professors noticed her bipolar personality and she once even got kicked out of the lecture almost... i find it very stupid when people do that.. i mean i understand when someone is trying to better themselves in one way or another but when the desire becomes desperation its almost disturbing to look at...
